Outside Employment

Employees generally are permitted to work a second job as long as it does not interfere with their job performance or create a conflict of interest with Cadence OneFive. All employees, including part-time employees, must obtain prior approval before undertaking outside employment.

If outside employment causes or contributes to job-related problems, it must be discontinued, or the employee may be subject to disciplinary action up to and including termination.

Affecting job performance includes:

  • Failure to deliver quality work on deadlines

  • Failure to work their regular hours: absenteeism, tardiness, leaving early, etc.

  • Refusal to travel, or refusal to attend required events or meetings that are part of their job responsibilities

In addition, employees who have accepted outside employment may not use paid sick time to work on the outside job. However, an employee on a leave of absence may continue to work in the outside job if this employment has been approved by the company under this policy and the employee’s reason for leave does not preclude the outside employment.
